Web Design

The first page I wrote in HTML was a history of my Vietnam experience. It's been lost, but I learned a lot from the endeavor. It's relatively easy to get a text page and a few images on the web, and that's the saving grace of HTML and the web. There's more here than Britney Spears and pop-ups.
Web pages are written for all sorts of reasons:we all know the big commercial pages like Amazon and CNN,but it's the personal pages written by fans, obsessives, geniuses and just plain kooks that make the web interesting.
I'm making my list of favorite ezines available here. It's an eclectic sampling of the best and worst of the web, sure to entertain and offend. To get the most out of it, try some of the author's links.
I've also learned that if you want a page that will attract and keep visitors, you need a designer like Zoe. We often disagree on our approach to a page, but the design elements are all Zoe's. Check out The Yale Web Guide and hire a good designer if you want a first class page.
I recently had the opportunity to work with a young (74) man who wanted to learn about CSS, and he composed the following:
AN ODE to CSS

By Harold B.
(With Apologies to Dr. Seuss)

Not ever, not anywhere, not here at all.
I will not have a font tags to call.
Not on a wall, not in a stall
I will not have font tags at all
I do not like them here or there
I do not like them anywhere
I do not like them in a boat
I would not, could not, with a goat
I will not eat them in the rain
I do not like them on a train
I do not like them in a box
I will not eat them with a fox
I do not like them in a house
I would not, could not, with a mouse
I do not like font tags at all
I do not like them in a ball
Font tags on a wall
Font tags in a stall
I do not like font tags at all.
These are some of the links I find useful.
